Ideas for holidays, weekends and trips in Mandelieu and its surroundings
Cannes is of course home to the world-famous Cannes Film Festival, which is held every year in May. If you're here during that time, make sure to catch a glimpse of all the stars that make their way to the most famous film festival on the planet! However, Cannes is beautiful all year round, and there is plenty to see and do during your stay. La Suquet, the old town, is a good place to start, and nearby is the famous Promenade de la Croisette, where all the stars can be seen during the Film Festival, and where you can find some of the best shops, cafés and restaurants in Cannes. The beaches here are not to be missed, so why not grab your towels and head down after a relaxing lunch? Outside of Cannes, Nice is only 35km away. As the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department, it has everything you could wish for, from museums to shops and from theatres to sandy beaches. The museums here are fantastic, and contain great works by painters such as Chagall and Matisse, so don't miss the opportunity to visit those. After a day's sight-seeing, what better way to wind down than by sampling some of the local cuisine? Salad niçoise is of course a Nice specialty, so take the chance to try a home-made one. Back in Cannes, another place of interest is the Île de Sainte Marguerite (St Marguerite's Island), which is where the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned. Whatever takes your fancy, the Campanile CANNES OUEST - Mandelieu provides the ideal base!
